Energy

The energy sector is arguably one of the fastest changing industries in the UK. It comprises radically different sub-sectors, with coal mining in decline at one end of the spectrum, and renewable technologies experiencing significant growth at the other end. The nuclear industry has received a modest boost in the past two years with new project planning but its future remains unclear. Nevertheless the need for decommissioning in this sector has seen us working with companies and regulators to establish and monitor standards and qualifications.

In many ways renewables are every bit as controversial as the nuclear industry and we recently compiled a labour market intelligence report for the UK Commission to provide a solid evidence base on skills and performance challenges in the sector.

Due to frequent adjustments in the priorities of successive Governments, there is constant change in energy efficiency policy. As the policies impact the sector and gather momentum, we have been scoping qualifications, developing career maps and new units of vocational qualifications.
